Disease State: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Educational Objectives

1. Improve healthcare providers’ performance, as defined by evidence based performance measures, when providing care to patients with COPD. 
   
2. Increase awareness and knowledge of the results of current clinical research that advances the care of COPD patients.
   
3. Improve knowledge and skills required by healthcare providers to correctly identify patients at risk and diagnose patients with COPD.
   
4. Increase knowledge and adoption of evidence based guidelines, e.g. GOLD, ATS/ERS or others, to improve the care of COPD patients.
5. Improve the attitudes of primary care providers that COPD is a preventable and treatable disease and that addressing this disease can have a positive impact on patients.
