Disease State: Parkinson’s Disease

Educational Objectives

1. Provide health care providers with current information regarding the national prevalence and incidence of Parkinson’s disease in the U.S. 
   
2. Explore role of neuroimaging in differentiating underlying mechanisms of disease progression.
   
3. Describe the impact of Parkinson’s disease on the patient and on caregivers. 
4. Differentiate between Parkinson’s disease and other parkinsonisms in confirming initial diagnosis.
   
5. Identify therapies specific to a patient’s individual characteristics in the management of motor symptoms.
6. Highlight recommendations for optimal long-term management of Parkinson’s disease.
7. Review non-motor manifestations of Parkinson’s disease.
