Diversity Offers Real Benefits
At Boehringer Ingelheim, we recognize that our strength and competitive advantage are, in part, the result of our commitment to sustaining an organization that encourages diversity in all aspects of the business, whether that be in the diversity of the background of our employees, of thoughts and ideas or diversity of our partners and suppliers.

Our objectives around employee engagement, recruitment and retention efforts, training and education opportunities, work/life flexibility, and community and marketplace focus demonstrate our commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Our Objectives

Employee Engagement

Boehringer Ingelheim has Diversity Councils, which provide forums for employee ideas and involvement related to diversity initiatives, recruitment and retention, training and education, work/life balance, and community and marketplace focus. Diversity Council members represent a mixture of colleagues within the company. They demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion efforts and serve as formal and informal thought leaders for our efforts.

Supplier Diversity

Boehringer Ingelheim views supplier diversity as a commitment to both the local communities it serves and to the U.S. economy. Through purchasing and contracting practices, the company embraces the principles of strengthening the national and local economy by aiding, counseling and protecting the interests of small businesses. Boehringer Ingelheim helps nourish creativity in the U.S. workforce by supporting entrepreneurs, particularly those who are socially and economically disadvantaged.

Business Resource Groups

Business Resource Groups are voluntary, grass roots-driven groups of employees formed around the dimensions of ethnicity, gender, physical ability, sexual orientation and race. Members of these groups support one another and contribute to recruitment and retention efforts by sharing experiences, discussing best practices, concerns, networking, professional development and mentoring. Boehringer Ingelheim presently supports the following Business Resource Groups:

  • African Heritage Business Resource
  • Latinos at Boehringer Ingelheim Influencing Change Ahora
  • Asian Employee Business Resource Group
  • Women's Leadership Initiative
  • Disabilities with Opportunities for Networking and Education
