Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds - Foundation for Basic Research in Medicine

The public foundation Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds (B.I.F.), an independent, not-for-profit institution, fosters excellent PhD and MD students around the world. The B.I.F. supports outstanding projects in basic biomedical research.

Purpose: Providing Support for World-Class Young Scientists

  • Long-term fellowships for outstanding Ph.D. students. Fellowships include personal support and trainings e.g. at Cold Spring Harbor (USA) and Hirschegg (Austria).
  • Travel grants for Ph.D. students and post-doctoral scientists for short-term practical stints or scientific courses, for example at (e.g. summer or winter schools).
  • Research fellowships for M.D. students.

International Titisee Conferences

The International Titisee Conferences (ITC) are an acclaimed forum intended to bring together distinguished as well as up-and-coming scientists from highly topical areas of biomedical research. Their aim is to initiate and stimulate discussion and scientific collaboration.

Eligible for B.I.F.'s Long-Term Fellowships and Travel Grants are:

  • Europeans working in Europe and overseas.
  • Students from overseas working in Europe.
